Delhi : The new Toyota Vellfire has made its worldwide premiere, featuring improved styling and overall upgrades. We anticipate the 2024 Vellfire to arrive on our shores as well, because the luxury MPV is already offered for sale in India and is rather well-liked. So, let's find out what the new Vellfire offers over the version that is already accessible in India.

Sporty Exterior Design

The 2024 Vellfire receives a huge front grille that resembles the one on the most recent Toyota Land Cruiser. In contrast to the model built for India, the headlamp and DRL arrangement is integrated and more streamlined. Additionally, the fog lights are housed in enormous air dams in the 2024 version.

The redesigned Vellfire has a Z-shaped feature on the B-pillar and a more curved side profile. In comparison to the 17-inch silver alloy wheels we receive here, the revised version's 19-inch alloy wheels are black and have fewer spokes.

The tail lights have been redesigned and extended to the side profile, and the rear end now has a flatter look. Along with the Toyota insignia and 'Vellfire' badge below, this tail light configuration also includes a thin connecting piece. Overall, Toyota purposefully designed the Vellfire MPV seem more lively while the Alphard sticks out as the more formal option due to its higher quality.

Cabin Modifications

Significant improvements have been made to the interior, particularly to the cockpit. With brown leather upholstery, it receives a cleaner arrangement that envelops the passengers. In comparison to the earlier India-spec Vellfire, the 2024 model receives a redesigned steering wheel, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, and a fully digital driver's display.

The start/stop button, which was on the right side nearer the door in the India-spec vehicle, has been moved to the left top behind the steering wheel. The climate and audio controls have also been relocated to the infotainment system. The middle AV vents are now horizontally positioned, and the form of the AC vents has also changed.

Experience with Rear Seats

Due to the Vellfire's reputation as a luxurious MPV with an excellent rear seat experience and the fact that the previous generation was already exceptionally roomy and well-equipped, the 2024 model doesn't receive many visually striking improvements. Both variants come with motorised second-row seats that have plenty of room and a powered ottoman. Both vehicles can also be equipped with chauffeur controls and displays for the backseat passengers.

However, the 2024 Vellfire has expanded the room for the second and third rows by 5mm and 10mm, respectively, with the goal of improving rear seat comfort. The second-row headrests now have a new design, and the controls for the second-row passengers are now located on little screens on their armrests. The casing for the AC vents in the back seats is likewise larger and extends to the third row. Additionally, all of the Vellfire's rear AC vents are located inside the temperature control unit, which is situated in the roof, as opposed to the India-spec vehicle.

Extra Powertrain Choices

The powertrain has also been altered. Two different engines are available for the redesigned Vellfire: a new 2.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine with an 8-speed automatic and a 2.5-liter petrol hybrid engine with an eCVT transmission. Both have the choice of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive systems.

The Vellfire that we now have in India only has a four-wheel drivetrain and a 2.5-liter petrol hybrid engine with an e-CVT gearbox.

Improved Safety

The 2024 Vellfire adds to the long list of safety features already present in the India-spec model by adding driver assistance features like remote parking, lane keep assist, steering assist, and radar-based cruise control. The India-spec model also has seven airbags, brake assist, vehicle stability control (VSC), hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a 360-degree camera.

These were only a few of the major changes between the new Toyota Vellfire and the outgoing model, which is now sold in India. Given that the present model costs Rs 96.55 lakh (ex-showroom), its pricing when brought here is probably going to be close to Rs 1 crore.
