Delhi : The Indian Army has ordered 1,850 units of the Scorpio Classic, according to a statement from Mahindra & Mahindra. Prior to this, the Army had placed a January order for 1,470 Scorpio Classic units. Twelve Indian Army regiments were set to get the SUVs. The upgraded version of the Scorpio is called the Scorpio Classic. The new Scorpio N, a brand-new model, is also offered by the company.

Tata Safari, Tata Xenon, Force Gurkha, and Maruti Suzuki Gipsy are among the current vehicles used by the Indian Army. The Indian Army's capabilities would be greatly improved by the inclusion of Scorpio Classic. Mahindra is anticipated to give the Scorpio Classic a 4x4 drivetrain. This indicates that the engine in use might be from the 2.2-liter engine's earlier generation, which had a horsepower rating of about 140.

Currently, a 2.2-liter diesel engine with 130 horsepower and 300 Nm of peak torque powers the Scorpio Classic. It uses a 6-speed gearbox to only drive the back wheels. The Scorpio Classic lacks a 4x4 drivetrain and an automated gearbox.

Mahindra changed a lot of things inside the Scorpio Classic. Compared to the previous generation, the new engine weighs 55 kg less. Mahindra claims that 230 Nm of torque is available at 1,000 rpm. According to the manufacturer, fuel economy should rise by 15%. Additionally, the gearbox makes advantage of cable-shift, which should aid in reducing vibrations, and the throws should now be more positive and concise.

Additionally, the suspension configuration has been improved and tweaked. All four of Mahindra's struts have MTV-CL dampers installed to help with body roll control. A 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cornering lighting, cruise control, automatic climate control, a sunglass holder, fabric seats with diamond patterns, and more are now included with the SUV.
