Despite Russia trouble, Facebook profit soars by up to 79%

Washington : The latest profit figures released by the Facebook shows how insulated the company is from troubles and issues which even attract a lot of criticism.

Recently, Facebook was criticised heavily for failing to prevent Russian operatives from using its platform for election meddling, despite that the company has registered a quarterly profit of 79% and a hike in revenue by 50 percent in the third quarter

Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg had condemned the Russia's attempt to use his platform wrongly and also pledged to confront the problem.

"What they did is wrong, and we are not going to stand for it," Zuckerberg said of the Russians, on a conference call with analysts.

While Zuckerberg was not present at the hearing, the lawmakers slammed company for acting slow and not sharing the data in appropriate time.
