Elon Musk shuts down two of three Twitter offices in India: Report
New Delhi : Twitter Inc has shut down its two of the three offices in India, asking its employees to work from home till further notice. This has been done in a bid to reduce the cost to company and make it more financially stable.
The two offices which have been shut are in Delhi and Mumbai. While, the company has kept its Bengaluru office running as it houses the most number of engineers.
Elon Musk had recently fired 90% of its roughly 200-plus staff in India late last year. It must be noted that Mr Musk is taking difficult calls ever since he took over the company and has pledged to make it financially stable by the end of 2023.
India is considered as one of the world's fastest-growing internet arena; companies like Meta and Alphabet are investing much of their revenues in the Indian market, but looks like Mr Musk thinks different and he is not considering India as the market to invest in the recent time.
In the past couple of years, Twitter has evolved as one of the key public forums to express views by people, celebrities and politicians. In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes with 86.5 million followers on the platform. Still, the revenue figures generated by the company are not satisfactory for Musk.
Twitter cutting jobs across the world
While the jobs have been cut in India, it must be noted that the company is also cutting jobs across the world and has shut down many offices spread across the globe.
