New Delhi : DGCA on Monday informed the Supreme Court that all flight tickets, which were booked for dates between March 25 to May 3, will be fully refunded as these dates fall in the initial two phases of complete lockdown.

"Non-refund of air tickets booked during lockdown and creation of involuntary credit shell by airlines is a violation of Civil Aviation Requirements and provisions of the Aircraft Rules of 1937," DGCA told SC, according to reports.

The Centre has granted passengers a time till March 31, 2021 to use the credit points for their future ticket bookings.

However, it said that in all cases the refund by the airlines have to be initiated within 15 days.

Earlier, Supreme Court has issued a notice to DGCA and Centre seeking a reply on a plea that demanded full refund of fare for tickets which were cancelled due to coronavirus lockdown.

The top court had directed the civil aviation ministry to schedule a meeting with airlines and devise modalities to make refunds to passengers.
