Mumbai : The chairman of Tata Group Ratan Tata on Saturday announced that the Tata Trusts will be donating Rs 500 crores for the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a news report, the provided funds will be used to buy testing kits, protective gears for the frontline workers and respiratory systems for the increasing number of positive cases.

He also added that the given money will also be used for making modular treatment facilities for the infected persons as well as for the training of health workers.

Mr. Tata claimed that Covid 19 is one of the biggest challenges we will face as a race.

According to a recent report by Forbes, Ratan Tata has a total worth of $291 billion. 

Earlier, Mukesh Ambani had announced that Reliance will be setting up country's first Covid 19 hospital.

Indian business conglomerate ITC had also announced that it has set up a Rs 150 crore contingency fund to fight the coronavirus pandemic. "This fund will be utilised primarily to provide relief to the vulnerable and most needy sections of society who have been harshly impacted by the pandemic and have faced significant disruption in their livelihoods," said ITC's official statement.
