New Delhi : Tesla has put its plan to enter the Indian market on hold and with the development coming to light a report has claimed that a top executive who was looking at the entry of electric car giant in the south Asian nation has also resigned from his post.

Manuj Khurana was hired by Tesla in March 2021 as policy and business development executive. His continuous efforts had allowed a reduction in import duty for Tesla in India to 40% from as high as 100%.

The Indian government asked Tesla to assure that that for the concession they must promise to manufacture the cars in India. With the condition, it looks like Tesla has kept its plan to enter the Indian market on hold.

Meanwhile, no official comment has been made on this either by Tesla or Mr Khurana.

Recently, Tesla Chief Elon Musk had said on Twitter that they would not setup manufacturing unit in any nation where they are not allowed to first sell their cars and services.

So, looks like India will have to wait for more time to get their hands on Tesla electric cars.
