ATM in Kumbh Mela 2019: PNB launches special card for visitors
Allahabad : Handful of days is left for the commencement of Maha Kumbh Mela at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The State government is making best preparation for visitors who will attend the religious event for far-flung. In an attempt to ease pilgrims, the state-owned Punjab National Bank (PNB) has launched a special card for Kumbh Mela 2019.
The Punjab National Bank has partnered with the Uttar Pradesh government to create a model for digitization at this edition of Kumbh Mela, PNB said in a statement issued on December 23.
To inform, Kumbh Mela takes place after every six years. It is estimated that 12 crore devotees will participate in this event. Therefore, it is believed that there is an opportunity to use digitization to simplify transactions at the event.
The PNB special card, dubbed as PNB Rupay card will work in absence of internet. It will be convenient and hassle-free transcations at the shops in the mela ground.
Earlier in the month of July, this year, the Chief Secretary Dr Anup Chandra Pandey has instructed that at least one one bank branch and two ATMs should be installed in each sector of all 20 sectors of the fair area.
He confirmed that devotees coming in the event will not get any kind of problem in the banking facility. Also, there will be uninterrupted power supply to the bank branches and ATMs at the normal tariff rate of the Electricity Department by the Fair Authority. He has also instructed the Temporary Bank Branch and the Prayagraj Authority to provide free space for the ATM.
Dr. Pandey also instructed the banks to organize camps in the fair area to open bank accounts of the employees of the other executive organizations working in the Fair and Fair area appointed by Prayagraj Fair Authority. He said that to give the devotees the banking facilities in the fair area, the concerned bank should nominate two or two nodal officers.
The Kumbh Mela in Allahabad will start 15th January to 04th March 2019.
