Class 12 board results 2018: Top 10 career options with low marks

New Delhi : Class 12 exam is over and it is time for results. The result stress is at peak level and students are eagerly waiting for their results. It is expected that CBSE class 12 results will be declared in the last week of May or first week of June. Likewise, state boards will also declare class 10 and class 12 board exam results very soon.

While there are great numbers of options for those securing good marks, students scoring low percentage struggle hard to make career selection. To help students who score average or below average percentage, our career counselors have come up with some successful career options:

Mass communication & media: You can join Mass Communication course if you are creative & expressive and have strong communication skills. You can choose to become a journalist or get yourself trained in the advertising industry or corporate communications. There are huge opportunities awaiting industries like television, newspaper, radio, advertising, PR etc

Fashion Designing: If you have knack for fashion, then get yourself enrolled in fashion designing courses and have a creative eye for good design in clothes. Most colleges accept 45% average score as eligibility to apply for undergraduate courses in this field.

Photography: If you have knowledge about technology and good taste about colours then join a photography course. Take a similar course for graduation through distance learning or by enrolling in a university programme. You can apply to institutes like FTII, Pune, once you finish your graduation, for a course in cinematography.

Acting/Dance/Music: You can join a course in performing arts, like acting, music or dance. You would need talent and dedication to perfect your skill in order to pursue these courses.

Animation/ web design: If you are a tech savvy and creativity is at your finger-tips then join animation course or web designing course and get yourself enrolled for a correspondence course to pursue your graduation. The scope in the animation industry is growing considerably.

Event Management: You are good at organizing stuff and have leadership quality then join an Event Management Course in an affiliated university.

Tourism: If you love to travel, have a pleasing personality and good communication skills then opt for a course in tourism. Consider learning foreign languages as well to increase your chance of getting lucrative job in this field.

DJ and RJ: If you love to speak, likes music, mix different kinds of music, have great presentation skills and want an out-of-the box career, then opt to be a DJ, or an RJ.

BPO: This is a growing career option for those who have good communication skill. You need to have good customer service and client servicing skills.

Air hostess/ steward: It is one of the high profile career options in India desired by many young graduates. Air hostess profession is like a dream come true for young girls. In this profession, you not only get good salary but you meet different people from around the world, you get to see different locations, you get chance to meet celebrities, business tycoons and also learn a lot. However, the job is not easy. You have to greet every passenger, coordinate with security, make air travel comfortable of the passenger, to guide passenger during their seat settlement and much more. Also, Air Hostess and flight steward has to handle some difficult passenger and help them to remain patient and calm. 

Cartoonist: If you are good at drawing and you like creativity, then opt to become a cartoonist. Use your skill in drawing and sketching to create comic, critical or dramatic pictures to highlight or interpret published information. You may create illustrations, portraits, comic strips, animations, storyboard etc to create awareness in the society.
