New Delhi : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to conduct National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) on May 10, 2018, said a media report.

No official update has been recieved on this so far.

This year, the NEET exam was held on May 7 in 10 languages at 1921 exam centres in 103 cities. A total of 11,38,890 students registered for the NEET 2017 including 1522 NRIs, 480 OCIs, 70 PIOs and 613 Foreigners.

It is expected that application process for NEET 2018 will begin from January 2018. A report by Times of India claimed that this year students will be able to file application for the exam online.

AGE LIMIT RELAXATION

As per Supreme Court ruling, the student above the age of 25 can apply for the NEET 2018 examination.

POLICY FOR QUESTION PAPERS

Unlike 2017, NEET 2018 Examination paper will be kept same for all the states. The Union Human Resource Development minister Prakash Javadekar has said vernacular question papers for the NEET will be mere translation of the question paper in English. "The vernacular question papers for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) - the all-India entrance examination for medical colleges - will just be a translation of the question paper in English," Prakash Javadekar said.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

The minimum qualification should be 12th (Senior Secondary) pass from the state board or from the recognized University. The subject in Class 12 must be Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology or any other elective subject with English.

Students must have secured minimum 50 per cent marks in PCB group for general candidates and 45 per cent (for general PH) and 40per cent (for SC/ST/OBC categories).

ABOUT NEET EXAMINATION:

CBSE conducts the test as per the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 (amended in 2016) and the Dentists Act 1948 (also amended in 2016).

The examination is held for admission to MBBS/BDS courses in India in medical/dental colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the ministry of health and family welfare, except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament ie AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry.
