PM Narendra Modi inaugurates Swami Vivekanand's statue at JNU

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated Swami Vivekanand's statue at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi. He took part in the event virtually and addressed the students.

Recalling the famous Chicago lecture of Swami Vivekananda, PM Modi exhorted the students to translate Swami Vivekananda’s dream of a prosperous and self reliant India into reality. He also mentioned that how the statue will be symbolizing courage, compassion, vision for oneness and intense love for the country.

Pitching his idea of Atmanirbhar bharat, PM Modi said that the dream to make India self reliant and self dependent had become a part of the collective consciousness of 130 crore people of the country.

PM Modi also clarified that Atmanirbhar Bharat was not an inward looking goal and emphasised that India’s development and self reliance would ultimately benefit the whole world.

In his 30-minute long speech, he also reminded students about the dedication and love towards one's nation should be the priority.

Referring to the Indian independence movement where people from all hues and ideologies fought under Mahatma Gandhi for the nation’s cause, PM Modi said working towards the nation’s cause does not in anyway obliterate an individual’s personal ideology.
