Gurugram : The varieties of student-run clubs at Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurugram, one of the leading B-schools, ensure that students develop themselves holistically with adequate exposure to diverse skill sets. In the same vein, MDI has begun its Annual Management Inter-college Sports and Cultural Fest, from 10-12 of November, 2017 on a theme “confluence of the finest minds of India’.

Imperium, the flagship management event of MDI, is an effort to bring together under one roof some of the brightest young minds from the top B-Schools across the country. At this mega event MDI has been successful to bring to the fore future manager's passion, determination and intellect and come up with new and innovative ideas through a series of games and events that will test the participant at a conceptual and practical level.

Major General Jagatbir Singh, VSM - Director General, Resettlement and the Chief Guest on the occasion addressed the inaugural session, followed by the lamp-lighting ceremony. He emphasized the need to leverage the benefits of the technologically advanced age in which we live. He also spoke about the importance of physical strength and mental agility.

The three days event will witness several cultural programs like musical band performance by Tarkash, case-study competitions, street plays and several other events all around. The fest will also mark the presence of well-known stand-up comedian, Karunesh Talwar, the former actor and writer of AIB, the Mumbai-based popular comedy sketch group.

The event has confirmed participation from some of the best management schools in the country such as IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Banglore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, XLRI Jamshedpur, FMS, Delhi School of Economics amongst others. The three day nonstop activities will definitely be an event to be emulated, and exceeded year after year. This flagship event of MDI, with its variety of management events and on the spot games, provides the opportunity to build networks, shape managerial skills and utilize classroom theories into practice all combined with tonnes of fun and entertainment.

The activities comprise of  competitive case study competitions across various management domains such as Leadership, Marketing, Operations, Strategy, etc, and initiating discussions with think-tanks and events held for corporate executives. Apart from mind-boggling case studies and interesting sports events, some of the cultural events to be held this year are ‘Beat the Beat’, a group dance event, War of Bands, and a Fashion show.

‘Phalanx’, is a one-of-a-kind unique strategy game which creates a challenging simulated environment that tests the speed, mental agility, and survival skills of participants.  The unpredictably-formatted game can be played only by individuals with the winner to be awarded Rs. 58,000 award money!  Another event ‘Nautica’, witnessed online registration of around 1000 participants from different B-Schools.

The 72 hours nonstop entertainment event will witness participation of around 400+ participants from different B-Schools this weekend.
