Allahabad University introduces online counselling
New Delhi : The prestigious Allahabad University is all set to start admissions for the academic session 2018-19. This year, the management has introduced the option of online counselling. This facility, which is being used only for AU's main campus and not for constituent colleges, is operational now from 10:00am.
"The trial for going with online mode of admission has been successful and we would be starting the admission from July 04 for all the courses of Law faculty", said director admission Prof HS Upadhayay. The same for BA, BSc and BCom would start from July 5, he added.
Upadhayay further announced that the candidate will have two days to change his or her subject combinations and other details after which the options would be locked. Each candidate can pick from six combinations of subjects."Once the combinations would be locked from our side, one cannot do any further changes and the candidate can than submit the prescribed fee through the gateway", said director admissions.
After the two days of online submission of choice of subject and fee etc, the candidate will have to come to Pravesh Bhawan of university along with all the original documents and its photocopies. The documents would be verified and the student will be given the admission card, informed director admission.
“If the maiden trial of the facility is successful for AU this year, the same would be followed for admissions in constituent colleges from the next year,” he added.
The primary benefit of online counselling would be that of saving time, both by the candidates and authorities. Earlier, the candidate used to arrive at the Pravesh Bhawan in the morning and submit the subject option form and the same was cleared by noon. Following this, the authorities used to announce the names of the candidate through public address system for which the candidate had to stay at Pravesh Bhawan for the entire day
Conversely, now with the new process, candidate would be coming to the counter with his or her document for verification and each of them would be freed within 10 minutes, says the director admissions.
