Raipur : Amid rising number of coronavirus cases in the state, Chhattisgarh has banned all physical classes in the colleges and universities. In an order issued on Thursday, the state government has said that all classes for colleges and universities of the state will be held online and an attendance cap for academic and non-academic staffers in these institutions has been set.

"Physical classes in all government and private universities and colleges should be prohibited with immediate effect and classes should be held online," the order stated.

Also, the administration has asked the colleges and the universities to conduct all the exams for first and second semester online. The universities concerned may issue detailed guidelines in this regard, the order stated.

“Besides, instructions should be issued to academic and non-academic staffers of colleges and universities to attend their workplace in one-third of their total strength on the basis of roster method,” the order mentioned.

Chhattisgarh government has already closed schools in the areas with a positivity rate more than four per cent.

On Wednesday, Chhattisgarh’s COVID-19 count had jumped to 10,38,060 with the addition of 5,476 cases, while the death toll had gone up by four to 13,627.
