Delhi govt to send 400 teachers to Singapore for training

New Delhi : Delhi government led by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is all set to provide best of training to school teachers of the state. The proposal to send 400 school teachers for training to Singapore based National Institute of Education has been approved, according to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Mr. Sisodia, who looks after the education portfolio, tweeted that 200 teachers have already got trained by this institute, which he described as 'world's top educators-training institute'. 

According to a close source of education ministry, these are mentor teachers who have been drawn from the same cadre of regular teachers.

The training program is designed in a way that teachers will gain international exposure and transfer it to regular teachers they are connected to, the source told NDTV.

Also, the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, "The future of any country depends upon its teachers. They shape our kids. Del govt is committed to providing best training to its teachers (sic)."

Lately, six government school teachers from Delhi received the award of 'Fulbright Teaching Fellowship'.

In the last three years, Delhi's government schemes have seen great number of measures to increase the quality of education. The list of positive steps that has been taken include nursery curriculum, training sessions for teachers, appointment of guest teachers and parent-teacher meetings have been made compulsory.

During the presentation of budget 2018-19 session in the legislative assembly in March this year, the Delhi govt. allocated twenty-six per cent of the Rs. 53,000 crore Delhi budget for education.  That was the third consecutive year when about 25% of the budget has been allocated for education in the state.
