JEE Main 2018: Expected cut-off list for JEE Advanced

New Delhi : JEE Main 2018 has been conducted by CBSE on Sunday and students gave mixed reaction after appearing the exam. Many aspirants said that the physics question paper was lengthy and tricky while some mentioned that mathematics was the easier portion. Chemistry was balanced with conceptual and numerical questions. Overall, the question paper was a bit difficult and securing top scores might be not be as easy as everyone things. 

Talking to Prof Uday Nath Mishra, Chief Academic Officer, BasicFirst, we got a roughly expected JEE Main cut-off 2018. Take a look at the following details-

Expected cut off is 80 marks out of 360. The question paper was sensible and mainly based on NCERT. Chemistry paper was the most lengthy and Organic chemistry was found more difficult; while Physical chemistry was more numerical based, whereas, Inorganic chemistry was easy. Maths was mostly based on class 12 syllabus and was more formula based. Maximum questions were from the chapter Calculus. Physics questions were based on 11th class syllabus and major portion of Mechanics and Electrostatics was covered."

In all the three subjects, around five to six questions were framed differently. However, there was no unclear question in the paper this year.

JEE Main Physics Question Paper

In Physics paper, questions were slightly difficult as compared to last year. The paper was designed with few elements of surprise. Almost all the topics were covered as prescribed by CBSE for JEE (Main).

JEE Main Mathematics Question Paper

The overall Mathematics paper was somewhat on the difficult side. There were seven to eight lengthy questions, but a few questions were straightforward as well. Maximum questions covered all the chapters. The questions asked were conceptual and closer to the JEE advanced paper in terms of tricks and advance. Students whose have prepared from NCERT and related textbooks only might find it difficult. Equal weightage was given to the syllabus of class 11 and class 12.

JEE Main Chemistry Question Paper

In Chemistry question paper, almost equal weightage of Physical, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry was there. Paper has average difficulty level. No question was asked from the topics of Structure of atom, d & f-block, Aldehyde Ketone, s-block, Polymer & Surface Chemistry. Overall paper was balanced with conceptual and numerical questions.

The cut-off for appearing in JEE Advanced exam is yet undetermined. As of now, students are advised to keep calm and be ready for other competitive engineering exams. Good Luck!
