New Delhi : Amid calls to postpone the upcoming NEET and JEE Examinations, NTA has announced the guidelines for students who will appear for the examination this year. They will have to wear masks, gloves, carry a water bottle and sanitizer with them to the examination centre. The issued admit cards also mention details about social distancing which needs to be followed on the exam day.

During the entry to the examination hall, the students will have to pass through a thermal scan to gain access. A separate isolation room will be allotted to the ones who would be having body temperature above 99.4 degrees.

The NTA has also released a self-declaration form for the students in which they will be asked to confirm that candidates "do not have any coronavirus-like symptoms or suffer from COVID-19 or have not been in touch with anybody who tested positive recently".

Meanwhile, the guidelines do not mention anything about the students coming from containment zones.

With the release of these guidelines, it is clear that the Central government is planning to go ahead and conduct examinations as per schedule despite huge demand to postpone it.

The development comes days after the NTA issued admit cards for the two exams scheduled to be held in September.

According to the guidelines issued by the NTA to safely conduct the examinations, the reporting time will be staggered. "This is being done to ensure uniform distribution of candidates across rooms for entering an examination centre," the advisory read.

The JEE (Main) will be conducted for some 8.6 lakh students between September 1 and 6, while the NEET (UG) will be organised across urban centres for about 15 lakh students.
