JK Rowing sends customized gifts to Jammu and Kashmir girl: Here's why
New Delhi : The well known British author JK Rowling just made the day for a J & K girl. Accordingly, the author responded to a tweet about a student by a teacher of a small public school in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda on 26 April, has kept her word and sent a huge box of presents for the girl and her friends.
According to the overwhelmed The director of the school, Sabbah Haji is overwhelmed at Rowling’s reaction and said that she has sent a handwritten note along with an inscribed book to Kulsum, the student who the first tweet was about, as well as books for her friends.
The huge box of gift arrived on 23 June, the last day of class before the beginning of exams, causing the children as well as the teachers to lose their minds, according to the post on Twitter.
Twelve-year-old Kulsum Banoo Batt, a student of Haji Public School in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda, had written an English essay in which she wrote about her respect for Rowling and hoped that she would get to meet her one day. Her teacher posted a picture of her essay on Twitter, but little did anyone know that Rowling herself would respond to the tweet.
As the tweets show, Rowling did not just replied to the post, but ha surprised everyone by sending a personalised note for Kulsum.
The teacher took twitter to share more photos of the excited students as they opened the gift box, finding the presents.
Kulsum is an English learner at the school, a privately run non-profit school in Breswana, a Himalayan village in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. In her essay, she had written, “May Allah bless JK Rowling and give her a long life so that when I grow up, I get to meet her.”
The school is a small one, but its increasing social media visibility has helped connect it with volunteers.
