New Delhi : Management Development Institute, Gurugram one of India’s leading B-schools, hosted its Annual National Management convention — Delphique 2017 from November 24 to 26 on the theme “Digital Transformation: How Digital Technology is Transforming the Indian Business Landscape”. The three day convention was a confluence of events like the Knowledge Panel discussions on varied verticals of management, Vincenza – National Business Plan competition, Cerebro – The National case study competition, DIALETIC – National B-school Debate competition etc.

The event was inaugurated with a welcome address by Prof. C. P. Shrimali, Acting Director, MDI Gurugram. Prof. Shrimali said “Delphique is the platform where one can differentiate from other campuses. It helps in inculcating debating and analytical skills among the students”. The Guest of Honor Shri. V. Umashankar, IAS Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Gurugram said. “It’s an honor to be at MDI Campus” Speaking on the topic 'How Digital Technology is shaping Indian Public Administration' he added “the Digital India program transforms the country into a digital empowered society and knowledge economy. Information can travel in nano-seconds through digitization and this has greatly helped in decision making in every sphere of life”.

Famously known as Red-Carpet event of MDI, the convention is in its 21st year and is famous for bringing management research in focus. It is the perfect platform for people from the Industry (knowledge partners and panellists), academia and  the  student  community  to  interact  and  discuss  their  perspectives  regarding  various issues in  different verticals of management.

While addressing the gathering, Dr. Sanjay G. Dhande, Chairman, Board of Governors, MDI and Chief Guest for the occasion spoke on growth prospects of Indian Economy and its three components; agriculture, industry and services. “Knowledge economy will be the key to a nation’s development and programs like Delphique provide a great opportunity to showcase such talents to achieve a confluence of in-depth research, innovation through new thinking, and industry expertise, to address the collective need of efficient problem solving in today’s dynamic business landscape." 

With participation of top corporate leaders from different management backgrounds, this year's event was buzzing with research and intense discussion on contemporary topics, such as e-wallets, Digital Marketing Campaigns, Effectiveness of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, Redefining last mile Delivery Services, How can Indian manufacturing industry lead Industry 4.0 globally and more. For the students the discussions were an extensive learning experience filled with insights and industry expertise. 

Highlight of the convention was Research Panel Discussions facilitating stalwarts from the industry, eminent faculty and the brightest young minds to exchange ideas and critically evaluate various issues pertaining to several domains like Marketing, Finance, Operations, Analytics, HR, and Strategy etc.

Hallmark events at convention like, Vincenza – National Business Plan Competition allowed students to pitch their ideas to industry giants. Another major highlight was the Cerebro - National Case Study competition, which was conducted in association with American Express. More than 400 plus participants across top B-schools in India took part in the competition, with the scenarios getting tougher in each round. The event saw participation from management institutes like IIM Ahemdabad, S P Jain Institute – Mumbai, FMS Delhi, IIM Kozikhode, TISS Mumbai and many more.

For all the assertive, articulate and opinionated orators, Delphique 2017 offered Dialectic, a debate amongst the best of speakers from B-schools across the country.
