New Delhi : A record 20.9 lakh candidates are expected to appear in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) on Sunday, which is an entrance exam for admission to various medical and dental courses in India. However, the exam date for candidates whose test centre was in Manipur has been postponed due to the recent violence in the state. The new exam date for these candidates will be announced soon.

NEET will be conducted in 13 languages, including English and Hindi. The top three language preferences are Gujarati, Bengali, and Tamil. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has advised candidates to arrive early for thorough checking, particularly if their religion or customs require them to wear specific attire.

NTA has provided instructions for the candidates, including mandatory arrival at the exam centre on the time indicated in their admit card. No candidates will be allowed to enter the exam centre after the gate-closing time, nor will they be allowed to leave the exam hall before the end of the test. Candidates must carry their admit card, valid ID proof, and undergo proper frisking, which will be carried out without physical touch. Candidates are allowed to carry only a personal transparent water bottle and 50ml of hand sanitizer while electronic devices are prohibited. The NTA has also stated that there will be no facility for safekeeping of personal belongings at the exam centres.

NEET-UG is the qualifying entrance exam for admission to MBBS, BDS, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine, and Surgery (BAMS), Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS), Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS), and BSc (H) Nursing.
