New Delhi : Schools and colleges in Delhi which were shut 10 days ago due to air pollution will reopen from Monday onwards. The announcement from Delhi government came hours after Supreme Court made sharp comment over the situation in the national capital. The court had advised that "If the situation improves, lift some bans."

"Air quality in Delhi is improving now. Schools, colleges, and educational institutes will reopen from Monday," Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai told reporters this afternoon.

The air quality in the national capital has improved marginally, but it is still under "very poor" category on AQI.

All government offices in the national capital will also reopen from Monday. Gopal Rai urged staff to come via public transport. Special buses have also been arranged for them, he added.

"We advise them to use public transport to commute. Special bus services will be started from colonies where the maximum number of Delhi government employees live," the Minister told reporters.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court gave stern warning to Centre and asked them to take measures in time to control air pollution.
