UP Madhyamik Board Results to be delayed over CBSE moderation row
Lucknow : UP Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad has apparantely delayed the release of Class 10th and 12th Board results due to ongoing CBSE Moderation Policy and High Court verdict over it.
In Early May, CBSE had modified its moderation policy, announcing a seperate mention of grace marks on the marksheet. The decision was taken after the discussion with 31 states and other national Boards, including UP Board.
A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Pratibha M. Singh in Delhi High Court noted that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had decided to do away with the moderation policy after the students had taken the examinations.
"This may completely change the course of academic future of students," said the bench in its interim order, adding: "A rule can't be changed after the game has begun."
"It is directed that the CBSE shall follow the declared policy, including the moderation policy, which was in vogue" when the students took their exams, the court said.
CBSE on April 25 had announced that it will be mentioning extra marks aka "grace marks" given to Class 12 students separately on mark sheets.
The roll back of the decision to implement No Moderation Policy as ordered by Delhi HC is likely to further delay the Class 12th and Class 10th Results. Clarity on the same would be made available by CBSE soon at cbse.nic.in.
The decision was part of proposals discussed by top officials of the education ministry and counterparts in the state.
