New Delhi : In a major update on how results for CBSE Board Class 12 will be released, the board has said that the student’s performance in Class 10 and Class 11 will also be taken into consideration for his Class 12 result.

CBSE on Thursday told Supreme Court that the marks will be allotted to the students as per following rules:

A. Class 10 component (30 per cent) based on best 3 performing subjects in Board exams

B. Class 11 component (30 per cent) will be based on final exam

C. Class 12 component (40 per cent) based on unit test/mid-term/pre-board

Practicals will be of 100 marks for which the marks will be given according to the school.



For class X & XI, marks in best of 3 from 5 papers in term exams will be considered.

Meanwhile, CBSE has asked schools to complete the practicals in online mode. Students who were unable to appear for the practical exams due to Covid-19 second wave will have the opportunity to take these exams from home.

When will CBSE Class 12 Results be declared?

Attorney General KK Venugopal said that the declaration of results will be done by July 31, 2021.

What happens if a student is not satisfied with his marks?

In case any student feels that the marks allotted to him are not in accordance to his performance, the student will be allowed to appear for a physical examination post coronavirus situation improves.

“If a student is unable to meet the qualifying criteria – now spread across three years of study – they will be placed in the “essential repeat” or “compartment” category. Student who are not satisfied can appear again when the CBSE conducted the Class 12 board exams,” Attorney General KK Venugopal told the court.

On June 1, CBSE had announced the cancellation of Class 12 Board Examination due to current coronavirus situation.
