New Delhi : 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha' starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar is a story of a woman who denied to live in her martial house because of the lack of sanitation facility.

Unlike other love stories, this movie revolves around the social cause, and the determination of the woman who fought against all the odds to spread awareness about the need of toilets, sanitation and healthcare.

Actor Akshay Kumar is famous for doing over the top roles on screen. He is taking up the projects based on social causes and real life incidents. Actors have become very choosy regarding there projects they are more keen to work on subject oriented plot. Audiences also feel more connected to them that way.

In the movie 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha', Akshay Kumar is essaying the role of Keshav whose wife Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar) leaves him because his house doesn’t have a toilet. Jaya on the other hand become adamant that she will not return until Keshav will construct toilet in the vicinity.

However, a similar incident actually took place in an Indian village in 2012, Priyanka Bharti brought about a social revolution in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district by standing up to her husband’s family when they asked her to defecate in the open.
