Alia Bhatt talks about Sridevi's death 'I broke down and couldn't stop crying'

Mumbai : Sridevi's sudden demise has created a void space in the film industry of India. From her millions of fans to Bollywood people, everybody can feel her absence, till today. Of her many fans, Alia Bhatt feels the same, as she mentioned in a recent interview to a magazine.

It was in Februray, that the world and the Bollywood fraternity was shocked after hearing the news of Sridevi's untimely death. The legendary actress died of accidental drowning in Dubai. 

Alia, in her interview expressed the affect of Sridevi's death on her heart and mind. "Her passing away was devastating for me, like it was for everyone. I was in a restaurant when I heard the news. After that I just couldn't eat. I broke down and couldn't stop crying," she said.

Very few people know that Sridevi was an admirer of Alia's work. The late actress also lauded Alia's performance at various events. It was Sridevi who presented her the best actress award to Alia for Udta Punjab in 2017. "What an impact she had on people! She was always so warm and lovely," added Alia.

Yet, the 25-year-old actress is strong enough to handle the emotional crises. Alia added that she remembers Sridevi in a positive way. "The kind of turnout on the streets during her last rites... she went like a goddess! That was heart-warming."

Coming to Alia's work front, the actress is currently, busy shooting for Brahmastra in Bulgaria. The sci-fi will see Alia and Ranbir together on the big screen for the first time. The film is expected to hit the screens in 2019.
