Mumbai : Megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Saturday shared a black and white picture in which he appears to be bowing down his head in respect. The post did not carry any words describing the action, but it came hours after his friend Amar Singh passed away. Big B is currently recuperating from COVID-19 in a Mumbai hospital along with his son Abhishek Bachchan.

64-year-old Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh passed away in Singapore after from a long illness. He had gone to Singapore in March for surgery for a kidney-related illness.

Before tweeting, Amitabh Bachchan shared the same image on his blog with a Hindi couplet – without mentioning about Amar Singh.

"I am stricken by sorrow, my head is bowed, only prayers remain, the soul that was close to my heart has gone forever," he wrote in Hindi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior politicians also condoled the death of Amar Singh.

Amar Singh is survived by his wife Pankaja Singh and two daughters - Drishti and Disha.
