New Delhi : The Delhi Police has registered a case at the Special Cell police station in connection with a viral fake video showcasing actor Rashmika Mandanna.

The FIR has been registered under relevant sections, and an investigation has been initiated to reach the source of video and the culprits. 

The Delhi Police said that they have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 465 and 469 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860, as well as sections 66C and 66E of the Information Technology Act, 2000, in connection with the deep fake AI-generated video featuring Rashmika Mandanna. The case has been assigned to the Special Cell of the Delhi Police, and an investigation is underway.

Earlier, the Delhi Commission for Women had sought action over the video that has been widely circulated in the social media.

The Delhi Commission for Women has independently acknowledged media reports regarding the widespread circulation of a deepfake video featuring Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna on various social media platforms. According to the statement, the actress herself has expressed apprehensions about the situation, asserting that her image has been unlawfully manipulated in the video.

The commission also mentioned that no arrest has been reported in the matter till date.
