Mission Mangal Box Office Collection: Akshay Kumar strikes biggest opener of his career

New Delhi : Akshay Kumar has once again proved that he is a true khiladi on the Box office. His latest release – Mission Mangal – scored high as it turned out to be his highest grosser of the career till date.

Mission Mangal stars Akshay Kumar along with Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Sonakshi Sinha and Nithya Menen in the pivotal roles. On the first day of its release, the film earned Rs 29.16 crore, but on the second day, the movie dipped drastically to mere Rs 17 crores (estimated figures). 

Akshay Kumar's movie was released in competition with John Abraham's Batla House which also garnered good figures of Rs 14.49 crore on the first day. Like Mission Mangal, its earning also dipped by around 50 percent, Kadel stated. According to early estimates, Batla House collected Rs 7 crore on Friday.

Earlier, John Abraham and Akshay Kumar had clashed with Gold and Satyamev Jayte on the Box Office.

Talking about the films’ clash, John had earlier said, "Honestly, if there was a controversy, I would have loved to create it, but Akshay and I are very dear friends, we really get along. In fact, just the other day we texted each other. There is absolutely nothing there. We are just releasing two films on the same day."

Directed by Jagan Shakti, Mission Mangal is based on India's Mangalyaan or Mars Orbiter Mission which was launched in 2013.
