The incident involved the brutal and deplorable act of parading two tribal women naked, igniting widespread outrage and calls for immediate justice. Reacting on the same, actree Priyanka Chopra has demanded accountability and punishment for those responsible.
The incident, which occurred on May 4 in a village within the Senapati district, came to public attention through a viral video that shocked the nation. What has further fueled the public's concern is the fact that it took a staggering 77 days before any actions were taken in response to this heinous crime, leaving many questioning the delay and the reasons behind it.
Priyanka Chopra has passionately expressed her concerns regarding the treatment of women as pawns in violent games, emphasizing that such actions are wholly unacceptable under any circumstances. Taking to her Instagram platform, Priyanka called for a unified voice, urging people to channel their collective shame and anger towards seeking justice for the women of Manipur.
In her heartfelt post, Priyanka wrote, "It took a video going viral... 77 days after the heinous crimes were committed... Before actions were taken. Rationale? Reasons? None matter--irrespective of what and why, situational or circumstantial, we cannot allow women to be pawns in any games," before adding, “The collective shame and anger need to be channeled now in a unified voice for just one thing - swift justice,” accompanied by hashtags ‘together in shame’ and ‘justice for the women of Manipur."
