New Delhi : Sadly, the veteran actor Rakesh Roshan has been diagnosed with throat cancer. Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan in his social media handle, revealed that his father Rakesh Roshan is battling cancer. The 69-year-old actor-filmmaker is said to undergo cancer treatment from today.

Hrithik Roshan shared in an Instagram post today adding that his father wouldn't "miss gym even on surgery day" and that he was in "full spirits." Hrithik instagrammed a picture of himself with Rakesh Roshan and wrote: "Asked my dad for a picture this morning... Knew he wouldn't miss gym on surgery day. He is probably the strongest man I know. Got diagnosed with early stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat a few weeks ago but he is in full spirits today as he proceeds to battle it. As a family we are fortunate and blessed to have a leader like him."

Rakesh Roshan was diagnosed with "squamous cell carcinoma of the throat". This type of throat cancer is uncommon and occurs with increasing age, suggests health website myvmc.com

In filmography career, Rakesh Roshan had his debut as an actor in 1970 film Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani and shot to fame with films like Buniyaad, Kaamchor and Khoobsurat. Following these, he made his debut as a director in 1987 with Khudgarz and went on to make films like Khoon Bhari Maang, Koyala and Karan Arjun. He also launched his son Hrithik with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai opposite Ameesha Patel in the year 2000. Then the father-son jodi created smashing hits on screen with  Koi Mil Gaya and the Krrish series.

Coming to Hrithik Roshan present, the actor is looking forward to the release of Super 30, based on the life of mathematician Anand Kumar.
