Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt's 'Brahmastra' to be costliest superhero flick with a budget over Rs 150 crores

New Delhi : Superhero movies in Bollywood are few and if you try to find a good one then there is hardly any. Ayan Mukerji's upcoming movie 'Brahmastra' will try to cut down this fact and bring a high on quality superhero movie.

The film will star Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead roles. As per the news buzzing, 'Brahmastra' is likely to be made on a budget of over 150 crores, making it the costliest superhero movie of Bollywood.

Namit Malhotra, who is co-producing Brahmastra with Karan Johar, told Mid-Day that they are looking at a budget of over Rs 150 crore for the film. 

"We aspire to create something homegrown that can match Hollywood standards. We can't be penny-pinching with the scale. Hollywood has moved from dramas and rom-coms to big scale films, which makes more money eventually. India too is getting there," he said.

Brahmastra will be released in 3D and will have superlative visual effects, added Namit.

The first part of the triology is expected to go on floors by next year. It has been scheduled to release on Independence Day in 2019.
