Mumbai : Delhi government’s announcement to shut down theaters amid rising number of coronavirus cases in the national capital has come as a big jolt for the recently released movies – 83, Spiderman and others. The decision came after the Covid-19 rate in the capital rose alarmingly to 0.55 per cent on Sunday and 0.68 per cent on Monday.

On Tuesday, the drop in collections of Ranveer Singh’s 83 was reported. Amid Omicron scare, the movie had taken a slow start with 7 crores on Monday, it dropped further to Rs 6 crore net on Tuesday, thus taking its 5-day total to an estimated Rs 57.50 crore net.

The only relief for the movie is that Jersey makers will not be releasing their movie this week and with this 83 will have no competition on Box Office in the states where theaters are still functioning.

Trade experts predict that the film may just have a better second weekend, considering that it will have little competition at the box office until the SS Rajamouli starrer 'RRR' hits theatres on January 7.
