Ranveer Singh's '83' to release on Christmas; Check out the new poster

Mumbai : Upcoming Bollywood movie '83' starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role will be released in theaters on Christmas this year. The film is based on the historic win by Team India in the 1983 Cricket world cup. Ranveer Singh plays the character of Kapil Dev, who was the captain of Indian cricket team that time.

For those who do not know, Deepika Padukone will be seen playing the character of Kapil Dev's wife in the movie. The film also features Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, and Ammy Virk.

Actor Ranveer Singh announced the new release date on social media with a brand new poster of the movie.

He wrote, “It’s time……….. 🏏🏆 83 IN CINEMAS THIS CHRISTMAS. Releasing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. #ThisIs83. (sic)”

The makers announced the release date after Maharashtra government announced re-opening of theaters in the state. Initially, the movie was scheduled to release in April 2021, but after the coronavirus second wave struck the nation, the release was postponed.

Apart from 83, Akshay Kumar also announced the release date of Sooryavanshi that is eyeing the Diwali release.
