Shahid Kapoor smoked 20 cigarettes a day for Kabir Singh

Mumbai : Shahid Kapoor is receiving praise for his an invective-spouting alcoholic character in the recently released teaser of Kabir Singh. Speaking about his character he said that it was difficult to be Kabir Singh who is a chainsmoker and snort cocaine.

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Shahid Kapoor revealed, “I don’t endorse smoking at all. However, the role required it, as the protagonist uses it to channel his angst and rage. It wasn’t easy, and it came to a point where I smoked almost 20 cigarettes a day. It would take me close to two hours to shower and get rid of the smells before I could return home to my children.”

Apart from Shahid Kapoor, Kabir Singh also features Kiara Advani in the lead roles.

The shooting for the movie was wrapped up on March 29.

Kabir Khan has been slated to release in theatres on June 21 this year.
