New Delhi : Bollywood actress Sridevi, who passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest in Dubai, will always stay alive in our hearts. The actress was in Dubai to attend a wedding ceremony with her husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi.

Sridevi was born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan and worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films before making a formal debut in Bollywood. She had started her career as a child artiste, and grew up to be one of the biggest female stars India ever had. The government of India awarded her Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour, in 2013.

1: Solva Sawan (1979) - Sridevi made her debut in Bollywood with the film, she was praised for her role of an ambitious attractive village girl.

2: Himmatwala (1983) - One movie after which Sridevi turned into a commercial hit mantra for most of the filmmakers was Himmatwala, which was a remake of Telugu hit Ooriki Monagadu (1981). Sridevi is best remembered for her dancing skills in the film.

3: Inquilaab (1984): This was the first movie Sridevi did opposite megastar Amitabh Bachchan. It was one of the most challenging roles for her more because of the script than her lead partner.

4: Nagina (1985): Sridevi's character of Rajni makes Nagina one of her remarkable movies. Her act as Nagin was the show stealer.The song Main teri dushman with Amrish Puri as the dastardly snake charmer is now stuff of movie legends.

5: Mr. India (1987): Sridevi's career would have been tagged great without the film, but Mr India made it phenomenal. Though it was a complete Anil Kapoor's movie, but Sridevi still managed to make a mark with her character. Her bubbly character of Seema and famous song Hawa Hawai are just unforgettable.

6: Chandni (1989): The film is best known for its musical success and Sridevi's on-screen chemistry with Rishi Kapoor. Her white costumes revolutionised fashion in North India as everyone desired to sport Chandni look at that time.

7: Chaalbaaz (1989): At a time when almost every big name had done a double role movie, Sridevi delivered Chaalbaaz, she was praised for her role as twin sisters Anju and Manju. Manju helps Anju turn the tables on Anupam Kher and Rohini Hattangdi’s scheming characters. The movie also gave her first filmfare award for the best actress.

8: Lamhe (1991): In Lamhe too she played a double role, but it was unlike any played before. She played both the mother and daughter in the movie.

9: Judaai (1997): Sridevi's partnership with Anil Kapoor on screen was a hit formula at that time. Judaai just boosted the feeling with Sridevi essaying a character of a greedy wife who forces her husband for a second marriage to earn easy money.

10: English Vinglish: At a time when none expected to see Sridevi back in Bollywood, she made a comeback with English Vinglish. After receiving a standing ovation at the Toronto International Film Festival, this charm grenade of a film won hearts at home too. With her honest expressions, English Vinglish remains her best performance ever.
