Chennai : The ashes of Sridevi, who is often hailed as India's first female superstar, has been brought to Chennai where her husband Boney Kapoor and family will immerse them in the sea near Rameswaram. 

The ashes were brought in a special craft from Mumbai and will be taken to Rameshwaram later on Saturday.

The actress was found lying unconscious in a bathtub, in Dubai, on February 24. After postmortem, doctors said that she died due to 'accidental drowning.'

She had gone to Dubai to attend a family wedding with her husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi.

Her mortal remains were brought back in India on February 27. A state funeral was held in Mumbai on February 28 with celebs gathering at her residence to pay their respects to Sridevi.
