Visaarani becomes India’s entry for Oscars

New Delhi : Auto Chandran might take a proud walk at red carpet in Oscars this February next year as the film Visaarani has been announced as the official entry from India. 

16 years have passed when India had last sent a Tamil movie for Oscars.

Directed by Vetrimaaran, the film is a docu-drama thriller which was released in February this year. The film has been sent for the 'Best Film' in foreign language category. The movie was based on city- based auto driver M Chandrakumar's true story and novel - 'Lock Up'.
