Why Angrezi Medium makers chose to release the movie despite theatre ban

New Delhi : At a time when the state governments have closed down movie theatres till March 31 as a precautionary measure to avoid spreading of coronavirus, several movie makers opted to postpone the release date of their movies. But, Angrezi Medium makers were different and released their movie on the set March 13 date.

The Delhi government announced shutting down of movie theatres in the national capital one day before the release of the movie. And the producer Dinesh Vijan said that they were left with no option but to release the movie as there was no time to pull back and schedule a new release date.

Speaking about it to the entertainment portal, Bollywood Hungama, Dinesh Vijan said, the overseas prints had been dispatched and KDMs (code for digital projectors) issued to theatres across India. However, the producer said that despite everything the film opened well and has been appreciated by the critics and the audience.

Later, he also said that the movie will be re-released in the areas where the theatres have been shut to ensure that the movie reaches the mass.

Angrezi Medium stars Irrfan Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Radhika Madan, Deepak Dobriyal and Dimple Kapadia in the lead roles.
