Yami Gautam, Vicky Kaushal as lead roles in Ronnie Screwvala's film Uri

Mumbai : Vicky Donor actress ‘Yami Gautam’ will be seen opposite to Vicky Kaushal in the upcoming film ‘Uri’. The story of the film is based on the infamous Uri attack, which took place on 2016. The attack took place between Indian army and a number of terrorists near the Army camp at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir. The battle continued for 11 days killing 17 army personnel.

Coming back to Uri, the film is based on the Uri attack, which will cast some popular actors in its lead roles. Yami Gautam and Vicky Kaushal have been selected to play key roles in the film. It will be under the direction of debutant director Aditya Dhar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala.

Mumbai Mirror reports that Masaan popular actor Vicky Kaushal will be playing the commander-in-chief, leading the operation against terrorist, while Yami Gautam will be seen in the role of an intelligence officer who would be helping the army officials in planning and execution of the operation.

Yami Gautam confirmed that she wishes to meet the real-life army heroes while she is also impressed by the kind of research conducted by Aditya Dhar on the URI attacks.

“I’d love to meet the real-life officers but Aditya (debutant director Aditya Dhar) has done such a fab job with his research and I’m sure he will be able to help us with all the information required for the prep.This is the first time I will be playing a character who is so strong and will present me in a very different light,” Yami told Mumbai Mirror.

Vicky Kaushal will be seen a bit bulky for his role in Uri. For now, he is currently under customised regime to gain a few pounds. Sources also mentioned that the actor has started training under para-military and will soon start his technical training. The action in the film involves hand fight and martial arts.

‘Uri’ is likely to hit the theatre screen on May, this year.
