Actor Tom Cruise to go in space for real (Movie Still)

Washington : Hollywood actor Tom Cruise will be officially be going to the outer space with Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman in October 2021 to shoot the first-ever feature film in orbit.

According to media reports, Tom Cruise and Doug Liman's names have been added to the 2020-2023 International Space Station (ISS) manifest. The duo will be riding aboard Elon Musk‘s SpaceX Crew Dragon rocket and capsule to the ISS, and Cruise is working together with both Musk and NASA to film an action-adventure title on the modular space station.

The name of the movie is yet to be finalized. It is being made under the Universal Studios banner which has committed to invest around 200 million USD.

News of Cruise’s venture to outer space was first confirmed in May 2020 by NASA administrator, Jim Bridenstine. “NASA is excited to work with @TomCruise on a film aboard the @Space_Station!” he tweeted. “We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make @NASA’s ambitious plans a reality.”
