Mumbai : Singer-composer Bappi Lahiri passed away on Wednesday at CritiCare Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai. He was suffering from obstructive sleep apnea from past some time. He was 69 years old.

Bappi Lahiri is best known for popularising disco music in India; better known as Bappi Da, he was on his career high during 1980s and 90s.

PM Modi condoled his death, "Shri Bappi Lahiri Ji’s music was all encompassing, beautifully expressing diverse emotions. People across generations could relate to his works. His lively nature will be missed by everyone. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti."



Last year in 2021, Bappi Lahiri was tested positive for coronavirus. Some media reports had said that he has lost his voice post the infection. But, the singer clarified on Instagram that by god’s grace he is healthy and feeling better.
