It was a few days back when Bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone broke silence about her battle against depression. The actor extremely vocal about her battle with depression, and is working to create awareness about it through her organisation, The Live Love Laugh Foundation. In a recent event, she seemed like digging at the comment on depression made by superstar Salman Khan

The 32-year-old actress went public with her story of depression, in the hope that it will help do away with the stigma attached to normal illnesses in our society. In an exclusive chat with NDTV's Barkha Dutt, Deepika Padukone, along with her mother, counsellor and doctor, spoke up to help others struggling with depression. She mentioned - "if I can impact one life in this entire process of speaking up and letting people know that it's something I have been through and something that I could deal with because I had a fantastic support system."

While she was talking about fight with depression, she did not take too kindly to Salman Khan calling depression a "luxury". At an event, Salman had said, "I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can't afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me."

Deepika was likely to take a dig at Salman’s comment at a recent event when she said, "Depression is sometimes perceived as luxury... (But) It is impotant to break that myth."

The actress was talking about her observation that depression occurs mainly in successful people. "When we were talking about more celebrities coming out and speaking and when we were talking about stigma, there is a lot of miscommunication that depression happens to people who are successful. I want to clarify that it can happen to anybody from any field."
