Farhan Akhtar has ‘permanently deleted’ his Facebook account

New Delhi : For past few days, Facebook, the social media giant is facing series of criticism. Now, it’s the Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar, who has ‘permanently deleted’ his Facebook account. The actor-producer on Tuesday took to his official Twitter account to inform his fans that he has permanently deleted my personal Facebook account.

Though Farhan didn't mention the reason for deleting his Facebook account but there is speculation that the actor did due to Facebook data breach row.

On Tuesday, the Rock On actor tweeted in his twitter handle, “Good morning. This is to inform you all that I have permanently deleted my personal Facebook account. However, the verified FarhanAkhtarLive page is still active.”

In his another tweet, today, he mentioned, “Request those who conjure up news about #Don3 without any fact checking to please refrain. It is not fair to raise expectations of the films fanbase via false news.”

Farhan Akhtar fan followers in Facebook are upset due to his absence in the platform.

Well,  Farhan is not the only actor who has deleted his personal account on Facebook. Canadian-American actor Jim Carrey too deleted his Facebook account last month.

“I’m dumping my @facebook stock and deleting my page because @facebook profited from Russian interference in our elections and they’re still not doing enough to stop it. I encourage all other investors who care about our future to do the same. #unfriendfacebook,” Jim tweeted to inform his fans about it.

Facebook is in news after Cambridge Analytica, a British consulting company, was accused of hacking data of around 50 million Facebook users without legal permission. Further, it has been speculated that the data was used to create political campaigns which helped Donald Trump win the US elections and ensured victory for the Pro-Brexit side in the UK.

Moreover, a few days back WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton’s tweet, ‘It is time. #deletefacebook’ created a lot of tension in the social media world, when Facebook has already been facing severe criticism the recent data leaks.
