Fact Check: Did Kanika Kapoor give COVID-19 infection to Prince Charles?

New Delhi : Soon after the reports of Prince Charles testing positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) came on Thursday evening, a message on social media started trending in which he was seen meeting Kanika Kapoor, Indian singer who was tested positive for the virus last week.

In the message, pictures of Kanika Kapoor with Prince Charles have been attached with the claims that she has passed on the virus to him. While the pictures are not fake, the claims made are completely baseless and false.

The viral pictures of Kanika Kapoor in orange dress with Prince Charles are from an event - the Elephant Family charity 'Travels to my Elephants' - hosted by Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, in 2015.

The experts have claimed that it takes up to 14 days to show the symptoms of coronavirus, so the allegation on Kanika Kapoor of transmitting the virus to Prince Charles cannot be true.

Kanika Kapoor was recently slammed for attending public events in India after returning from UK. It is advised that people must stay in 14-day quarantine after they return from a foreign country.

'Baby Doll' singer is currently admitted at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow where she tested positive for Covid 19 for the third time.

11 of the 56 people who had come in close contact with Kanika at a party in Kanpur days before the Bollywood singer tested positive for the novel coronavirus were found to be not infected by the virus, a senior official said.
