Jiah Khan's suicide case to be heard on April 20

New Delhi : The court hearing of Jiah Khan Suicide case will be conducted on April 20, this year. After the submission of the list of witnesses related to the case, last month, the City Civil and Sessions Court has about to be held on 21st and 22nd of March, this month. However, the hearing was cancelled as the concerned judge of the case, KD Shirbhate was on leave.

Jiah Khan was a popular British-American actress and singer who worked in Bollywood films for a short period of time, from 2007 to 2010. On 3 June 2013, she was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her residence at Mumbai.

Following the investigation, the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) has charged Jiah's boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi with abetment to suicide under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). During the last hearing,Pancholi was present, along with his lawyer Prashant Patil. Whereas, Rabiya Khan mother of the late actress, she was represented by her lawyers. But since the judge was on leave, the next hearing has been scheduled for April 20.

As for Rabiya’s petitions in the High Court, one for the findings of the CBI need to be included in the chargesheet and the other against unexpected removal of the previous prosecutor, which the judge asked to be labelled together, is said to be heard in mid-April. 

Jiah’s mother, in a text message from London, said, “The honourable judge mentioned the Sessions Court become a fact finder (sic).”
