Ranveer Singh as Khilji bags Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award 2018
New Delhi : Bollywood heartthrob Ranveer Singh is all set to add glory into his acting career. The actor has now been honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Awards 2018 for his master stroke performance as Sultan Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat. The blockbuster film has gathered over Rs 300 crore at the box office and lead cast including Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor have become an inspiration for many aspiring actors across the globe.
Indeed, 2018 has been an incredible year for Ranveer Singh. He has not only received incredible compliments for his portrayal of the cruel Alauddin Khilji but the film has also delivered exceptional box office collection as he recorded his first ever Rs 300 crore blockbuster.
Ranveer Singh’s act as Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat has been unanimously appreciated by film critics and audiences. Even, he has been credited as Bollywood most iconic villains of all times.
Ranveer’s acting in Padmaavat is path-breaking and so there is no surprise that he has been awarded the Dadasahed Phalke Excellence Award as Best Actor this year for the period film.
“We take immense pleasure to inform you that you have been finalised for the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award 2018 for the memorable role for the Padmaavat,” the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award committee wrote to Ranveer announcing his award.
Sources mentioned that while the actor was shooting for the film, he had to so much involve in negative emotions that he had to seek help to get back to his normal self. The actor had, however, disproved the reports and shared that he soon realised that he was not doing enough of 'Ranveer' things while shooting for Padmaavat and asked his friends and family members for helping him overcome the character of the gruesome Khilji.
Some of Hindi cinema’s biggest stars have been recognized with this award in the past for their valuable contribution to cinema.
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award was introduced in 1969 by the government so as to recognise the contribution of film personalities towards the development of Indian Cinema. Last year, veteran actress turned politician Hema Malini, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, filmmaker Shoojit Sircar and Zeenat Aman bagged the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Awards 2017
