Mumbai : Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has once again proved its mettle as the famous comedy show is now all set to enter the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest running Indian sitcom.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah began on July 28, 2008 and has been continuously running from over 13 years. Reportedly, the show will be registering for the record very soon.

Earlier, the show had registered itself in the Limca Book Of World Records for the same. Recently, the popular comedy sitcom also completed its 3000 episodes.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma has been among the top comedy shows on Indian television for more than a decade. Recently, the show was making headlines over the absence of its main characters Dayaben, played by actor Disha Vakani, who is on an indefinite maternity leave.

Producer Asit Modi had recently said that they are waiting for Disha and if she expresses her desire to quit, the show will move on with new actor.

“I feel I should become Dayaben now! The question of her return has been going on for many years now. We are still waiting for her to come back and if she expresses her desire to quit, the show will go on with a new Daya,” he had said.

The show is currently being shot in Silvassa amid the lockdown restrictions in Mumbai.
