Fact Check: Garbage floating on flooded road not from Chennai

New Delhi : Soon after reports of heavy to very heavy rains in Chennai, a video was circulated in social media with claims that the garbage floating in the flooded street is a result of the intense rain.

In the video, people can be seen walking through the flooded streets. Several social media posts claimed it to be a present situation in Chennai.

News Heads checked the facts and found that the video in circulation is not from Chennai. Instead, it was taken in Sadar Bazaar locality of New Delhi when the Capital went underwater due to heavy rainfall a couple of months back.

When the team searched for the video on YouTube and other social media platforms, we found a similar video uploaded couple of months back. Check out the video below:

Taking a cue from the above, we searched on Google Maps and found an NECC branch on Azad Market Road in Sadar Bazaar. The same address is also provided on the NECC website.

With this it is clear that the circulated video is from New Delhi and not Chennai.
