7 kids, driver killed in school bus accident in Madhya Pradesh

New Delhi : In an unfortunate incident, close to seven school children and a driver died when a bus collided with a school van at Birsinghpur in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, a police official report confirms.

Besides death, eight more kids were seriously injured due to the accident, police said.

“As per reports, at least seven school children travelling in the school van and its driver were killed in the accident,” Satna district Superintendent of Police (SP) Santosh Singh Gaur told PTI.

The deceased children were students of Lucky Convent School in Birsinghpur, police said.

Injured were rushed to the nearby hospital, out of which condition of one of them is critical.Senior police and government officials, including Collector Rahul Jain, have rushed to the spot to control the situation. 

Report says that the incident took place near Sabhapur police station at 9 am. The accident took place when a Boelro car hit the bus. There were a total of 12 children, aged between 10 and 15 years. 

Agitated over the incident, locals have locked the school. Meanwhile, the school management has declared holiday and owners have fled from the spot.

The incident has created deep grief in the state. Further reports are yet to come.
