Awards for mathematics genius in Delhi

New Delhi : ELMAS Abacus Mental Mathematics Academy organized its 11th State Level Competition at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, K.G.Marg, New Delhi 110001. Approximately 180 students from various centres participated in the competition. It was a big gathering with 300+ kids and parents.

The Awards of Excellence/Trophy were distributed by Prof. Hukum Singh, former HoD of Mathematics and Dean Academy of NIE, NCERT, New Delhi and Mr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Professor of Journalism and Director-PR, Goldminne Advertising Ltd. New Delhi to the winners in the competition of different Levels.

Prof. Hukum Singh stressed the need for mastering the arithmetic system and appreciated the efforts put-in by the Academy to improve the mathematical skills among other skills in the children.

Mr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, in his speech said that he is excited about children doing faster calculations.

Col. S.P. Singh, former Special Metropolitan Magistrate, Delhi High Court also graced the function.

As many as 15 students received Trophies and 39 students received Gold Medals for their meritorious achievement.

Mr. Kuppuswamy, Director of the Academy said that learning abacus system of arithmetic system helps a child to enhance various skills like memory, listening, grasping, imagination, self confidence besides mathematical skill and it works as a great mental agility program, an academic booster. He also said that Mrs. Vasanthi Ranganathan, a Makana Award winner and a noted educationist in Chennai, is the founder of Abacus Education in India in the year 1998.
